Strategic implications of China's Rise dictate the courses of action to be adopted by the United States whom it intends to displace and its immediate neighbour India. About the Author Brigadier (Dr) Rajeev Bhutani (Retd.) is an alumnus of Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington (Tamil Nadu), Army War College, Mhow (M.P.) and Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (APCSS), Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. At the DSSC, he was awarded the General Lentaigne Memorial Medal for his dissertation, “India – Emerging Regional Power, Prospects in 2020 AD”. Technologically competent; he topped the gun/radar and radio technology courses of the Army. In his illustrious career of 34 years, he had held varied command and staff appointments in insurgency affected Northeast and J&K, in the High Altitude border with China and in the Military Operations Directorate at Army Headquarters, enabling him to interact with various strata of government hierarchy. He commanded an Infantry Brigade on Indo-Pakistan border and thereafter one of the largest Sub Area of Indian Army comprising of 124 districts from three states before retiring from Indian Army. He is a Post-Graduate in Defence Studies and Chemistry, M.Phil. (Defence & Management), and D.Phil. from the Central University of Allahabad. He specializes in strategic security related subjects and has been a panelist/ keynote speaker at International conferences and National seminars organized by various universities and colleges across the country.
