About the Author Dr. Indumathi Somasundaram is a Research Associate at Department of Stem cell, National Institute of Nutrition (ICMR), Secunderabad. She completed her master’s degree in 2008 from University of Madras (Loyola College, Chennai, India). After a brief work experience at Lifeline RIGID Hospitals as a Researcher for nearly 2 years, where she got introduced to stem cells, she proceeded to do PhD in stem cells, and awarded PhD from University of Madras in the year 2014. During her work and PhD, she gained research experience on different kinds of adult stem cells including bone marrow, adipose tissue and endometrium, its in-vitro attributes of self renewal and differentiation, and its therapeutic implications/applications. Her areas of interest and expertise include adult stem cells, regenerative biology, reproductive biology, diabetes, cancer stem cells and so on.
