Description
This book in its general section deals with a brief account of anatomy and physiology including foetal circulation of the cardiovascular system. Examination of heart patient, with physical techniques of history taking, recording of symptoms and signs of heart disease along with thorough body examination of a patient has been lucidly detailed in this book. It discusses the latest innovations in both non-invasive and invasive techniques such as cardiovascular imaging, stress testing, CMRI and cardiac CT, Holter study, nuclear evaluation of cardiac functions, echocardiography (transthoracic, transesophageal and intracardiac), cardiac catheterization and angiography. Subject of cardiac arrhythmia in children which is difficult to understand by both the postgraduates of general medicine and cardiac fellows has been made easy to grasp its fundamentals of diagnosis and treatment with both invasive and minimally invasive techniques. A brief description of diagnosis and management of rheumatic fever, acute and chronic rheumatic valvular dysfunctions, infective endocarditis, pericardial diseases and cardiac tumors, emerging problems of metabolic syndrome, juvenile atherosclerosis, thyroid hormone disorders, mitral valve prolapse, sudden death syndrome and common cardio-pulmonary emergencies has been included skilfully. This book in its present format and contents is a treasure house of knowledge of cardiology and would certainly act as a ready-reckoner to the budding cardiologists, cardiac fellows, and junior and senior residents of general medicine for their understanding of the anatomical and physiological basis of cardiovascular system, and various newer non-invasive and invasive methodologies employed in the assessment and management of different cardiovascular disorders.
