Les tendances idéologiques des dramaturges nigérianes contemporaines tente d'étudier les pièces de théâtre écrites par des femmes nigérianes, en s'intéressant plus particulièrement à ADAUGO et NNEORA : AN AFRICAN DOLL'S HOUSE, respectivement d'Osita Ezenwanebe et Tracie Utoh-Ezeajugh, afin de mettre en lumière les idéologies qui sous-tendent ces pièces. Pour ce faire, l'auteur a procédé à une analyse critique des deux pièces en tant que données primaires, tout en se référant aux contributions littéraires d'autres critiques et écrivains. Les techniques dramaturgiques uniques des auteurs permettent de replacer les pièces dans leur juste perspective, à savoir des récits féministes aux connotations sociologiques. À la fin du livre, on constate que les femmes ne jouissent pas encore d'une liberté économique et sociale totale, une situation qui freine leur épanouissement et leur contribution à la société. De nombreuses sociétés nigérianes continuent d'insister sur la différenciation des rôles sociaux, ce qui empêche les femmes de maximiser leur potentiel et leur contribution à la société. Les femmes possèdent des forces et des vertus uniques qui leur permettent de soutenir la famille et la société en période d'incertitude. Le livre conclut que l'idéologie prédominante dans ADAUGO est le féminisme, tandis que NNEORA est un mélange de maternité et de néo-féminisme.
