E könyv voltaképpen a 2015-ben elkészült PhD-disszertációm. A dolgozat alaptémája – a címnek teljesen megfelelően – M. Heidegger „Mi a metafizika?” című 1929-es freiburgi székfoglaló előadásának kulcsproblémájára, a „Semmi” fogalmára koncentrál. Mint ismeretes –, s ahogy maga Heidegger is mondta meßkirch-i beszédében – „a német és a nemzetközi filozófiai közösség nihilizmusként jellemezte ezen előadást”. Rudolf Carnap – a neopozitivizmus jeles képviselője – azonnal meg is támadta „A metafizika kiküszöbölése a nyelv logikai elemzésén keresztül” című könyvében. Disszertációm nem osztja ezen, Heideggert elmarasztaló tudományos-filozófiai álláspontot. Azt a tézist képviselem, hogy a heideggeri elgondolás nagyon is releváns – ám többszörösen is félreértett. Már maga Martin Heidegger sem vette észre a semmi-fogalom – csakúgy, mint a létfogalom – dichotómiáját; immanens, ellentmondó kettősségét. Éppen ezért semmi-fogalma teljességgel konvencionálisnak tekinthető – s ezáltal marad meg ő is a létfelejtés csapdájában, így marad Heidegger is a „metafizika” foglya. A Semmi ugyanis – mint a léttagadás fogalma –, abszolút értelemben nem más, mint az abszolút identitás, ergo: az abszolútum.
