Additionally, it examines the results of environmental conservation initiatives in the Morogoro and Shinyanga districts of colonial Tanzania between the 1920s and the 1950s. A commentary on the concept of "Tanzanian history" itself can be found throughout the book. It charts, among other things, the transition from indigenous environmental conservation tendencies to colonial environmental policies.
