LAP Lambert Academic Publishing Ethics in Dentistry

In today’s society, the ethical issues faced by dentist are increasing and have also become more complicated than those faced by dental professionals in past time. The objective of ethics is to emphasize spirit (or intent) rather than law. The growing awareness and the intrinsic connection of oral health and overall health are giving rise to a more social conception of dentistry. With new developments in areas such as technology, equipment, materials, policies in managed care, third party payment and infection control requirements as well as a rise in litigation, there are many new challenges for the dentist. One of the characteristics of the profession is adherence to a code of ethics. The special status that the society confers on the professional requires them to behave in an ethical manner.
