La présente recherche a pour objectif principal d’identifier la meilleure configuration de la politique monétaire en Afrique centrale en considérant l’efficacité de la politique monétaire commune d’une part et celle de la politique monétaire autonome d’une autre part. Nous déterminons dans quelle configuration de politique monétaire les mécanismes monétaires sont efficaces avec un impact significatif sur la production. Mais aussi, nous examinons dans quelle configuration monétaire la production est favorablement sensible à la stabilité des prix. Cette recherche analyse aussi l’impact de la configuration monétaire sur la production des pays de l’Afrique centrale. Cette recherche aboutit aux conclusions selon lesquelles, l’autonomie monétaire est la meilleure configuration de politique monétaire en Afrique centrale. L’intégration monétaire n’est pas favorable à l’activité économique. Dans les pays de la CEMAC, la stabilité monétaire n’a pas d’impact significatif sur la production. Néanmoins, pour les pays à autonomie monétaire, l'inflation influence négativement la production.
