Training of practical instructors of air traffic controllers: Operational safety

The training of air traffic controllers goes through distinct stages, one theoretical and the other practical. Although closely linked and interdependent, they occur at different times. The practical phase is subdivided into two more stages, simulated practice and real practice. The real one takes place with the professional, still in training, already at his/her workstation with the monitoring of a practical instructor, responsible for monitoring and training the trainee. This instructor assumes great responsibility when dealing with professionals still in training during the operation. At this moment of training, he tries to identify possible learning problems and correct them along the teaching process, monitoring actions and constantly evaluating the apprentice to ensure the quality of the professional training minimizing risks to aviation. This book presents the proposition of a specific training for practical-operational instructors of air traffic controllers in line with international guidelines. The work also presents an analysis of the national and international panoramas on the subject, as well as the proposal of specific contents that should compose the training.
