The twists and turns of the Fourth Republic is nothing more than a simple literary essay which abounds in this fact, the socio-political events that Burkina Faso experienced under the reign of President Blaise COMPAORE. The twists and turns of the Fourth Republic is also the sum of the major crises of which the people of Burkina Faso have been victims or witnesses. These include the assassination of the famous investigative journalist Norbert ZONGO in 1998 which almost carried off the regime, the 2011 mutiny which shook the head of state, the 2014 insurrection which ended the 27 years of the COMPAORE regime and its last government, and the failed coup d'etat of 2015 by General Gilbert DIEDIENRE. The twists and turns of the Fourth Republic is also a set of struggles for the rebirth of an emerging and democratic Burkina, a Burkina that seeks to get rid of impunity, corruption, interference in state affairs and of terrorism.
