Este libro investiga una serie de estrategias de asesoramiento utilizadas durante este encuentro en cinco de sus fases de asesoramiento (preprueba, posprueba, adherencia, terapéutica y prenatal). También examina las herramientas efectivas con las que entender la compleja comunicación de los asesores/pacientes; herramientas lingüísticas así como elementos paralingüísticos (calidad de la voz, tono, proxémica, gestos, etc.) Este libro demuestra que asesorar sobre el VIH/SIDA es bueno; el uso apropiado del lenguaje en todas sus formas es la puerta de entrada para mejorar la prevención, reducir el estigma y promover la adherencia.
