L'histoire nous renseigne sur le regard originel de l'Occident vis-à-vis de l'Afrique. L'étude portant sur les temps forts de leurs rapports, notamment la traite des esclaves, la colonisation et même le Covid-19 permettent de s'interroger sur la sincérité des politiques de développement occidentales orientées vers l'Afrique. En effet, après la colonisation qui donnait accès sans protocole aux ressources naturelles africaines, la coopération, post coloniale, avec l'Afrique s'inscrit désormais dans le sillage de la continuité d'une exploitation du continent qui entend être en conformité avec le droit international post deuxième guerre mondiale. L'Afrique qui a raté son intégration depuis la naissance de l'OUA en 1963 est aujourd'hui dans l'incapacité de s'intégrer, de lutter contre la misère, la pauvreté et le sous-développement, de faire face à l'extrémisme violent, d'étudier les phénomènes mondiaux par elle-même, de défendre son identité et d'exprimer son point de vue de manière originale sur la scène internationale. Elle assume même avec orgueil son rôle de marchepied des puissances établies. L'épisode du Covid-19 aurait donc été très révélateur pour les Africains.
