Die Arbeit widmet sich der Untersuchung der Entwicklung der alltäglichen Sprachetikette als funktional-semantische Universalie am Material der russischen und englischen Sprache. Die Relevanz des Themas ergibt sich aus der außerordentlichen Bedeutung der Etikette in der Kommunikation und der unzureichenden Entwicklung des Problems der Sprachetikette. Es ist bekannt, dass die Etikette eine helle nationale Spezifität hat, die mit der Einzigartigkeit des üblichen Sprachverhaltens, der Bräuche, Rituale, der nonverbalen Kommunikation und der Entwicklungsweisen verschiedener Völker, Gesellschaften usw. verbunden ist. Außerdem hat die Sprachetikette einen vielfältigen Inhalt, der von einer Vielzahl von Gründen sowohl sprachlicher als auch außersprachlicher Eigenschaften abhängt. Die Bestandteile dieses Inhalts bedürfen einer Systematisierung, die es wiederum ermöglicht, die Wege und die Art der Entwicklung der Sprachetikette in der Zeit und die Art ihres Funktionierens im Raum nachzuvollziehen. Das Buch richtet sich an ein breites Spektrum von Lesern, die sich für Etikette interessieren, an Linguisten, die sich mit Fragen der interkulturellen Kommunikation und Sprachkultur beschäftigen, und ist auch für alle Englischlerner interessant.
