В книге подробно рассматривается роль липидов в строении мембран, и подчеркивается роль изопростанового аутоокисления полиненасыщенных жирных кислот в процессе старения и приводится гипотеза о механизме его активации протонированной формой супероксидного радикала – пергидроксильным радикалом (HO2 • ). Помимо собственных экспериментальных данных, автор критически рассматривает широкий спектр научной литературы.
