Este estudo apresenta novas técnicas produtivas ao setor de usinagem por abrasão, destacando as tecnologias limpas e menos agressivas ao meio ambiente, utilizando-se do fluido de corte biodegradável sem adição de água. Foram realizadas análises comparativas no processo de retificação cilíndrica no método convencional e com a técnica da mínima quantidade de lubrificação (MQL) com e sem limpeza na superfície de corte do rebolo, avaliando a integridade da superfície das amostras de aço ABNT 4340, caracterizando os ensaios, através da rugosidade, do desvio de circularidade, do desgaste do rebolo, da metalografia, da microscopia óptica, da microdureza, dos sinais de potência e emissão acústica. A vazão para técnica MQL, ficou na faixa de 30 a 120 ml/h, tendo como diferencial a inclusão da limpeza na superfície de corte do rebolo. Os resultados dos estudos demonstram que o método MQL com limpeza proporcionou melhor desempenho em relação ao sem limpeza, ou seja, o método com limpeza se aproximou em grande parte das variáveis analisadas ao método convencional. As condições apresentadas demonstram a viabilidade de implantação aos processos existentes e na adequação de máquinas novas.
