Nel 2014 la tesi di dottorato dal titolo Historical Fabulation in Contemporary Literary Texts si è concentrata sui vari aspetti del rapporto intercambiabile tra storia e letteratura nella produzione metafisica contemporanea. Da un punto di vista sociologico, i possibili temi, le forme e gli stili dei testi letterari erano legati alla storia del Paese da cui questi testi hanno avuto origine. Gli esempi letterari scelti (Fernando Pessoa, António Lobo Antunes, José Cardoso Pires e José Saramago) problematizzano e provano una scrittura della storia al di fuori degli assi tradizionali di causa ed effetto e la riproduzione del realismo letterario classico. La loro tessitura narrativa, in fondo, si presenta in modo caleidoscopico lavorando sull'identità e sulla stratificazione ideologica dei loro scrittori proprio in modo disparato. Ciò non significa però che una letteratura il cui approccio tematico alla storia possa fare a meno del reale a causa della sua crisi di rappresentazione, poiché l'emergere di possibilità narrative offre nuovi aspetti di questa realtà che, legati alla storia senza esserne guidati, riverberano proprio questo eccesso come punto focale della sua produzione scritta.
