Cette étude tente d'identifier les caractéristiques significatives de la religion et de la culture des peuples de la civilisation de la vallée de l'Indus (7000 avant JC - 1500 avant JC). Pour ce faire, elle examine les relations avec les cultures passées et ultérieures du bassin de l'Indus. En partant de l'homme préhistorique, l'auteur développe des marqueurs culturels (par exemple, la non-violence et le karma) qui semblent différencier les habitants de l'Indus de ses civilisations contemporaines. Afin de comprendre la mentalité de l'homme de l'Indus, les paramètres de l'étude ont été étendus et comprennent donc, l'étude de l'évolution de la pensée humaine par rapport à la "Force divine", à travers l'étude des religions et mythologies contemporaines de cette civilisation, les religions post-datées de cette terre et enfin, mais pas des moindres, tout le matériel archéologique de cette civilisation, qui peut être notre outil majeur pour trouver des réponses, en l'absence d'une écriture indus déchiffrée. L'objectif de cette étude était d'identifier les croyances religieuses du peuple de l'Indus, longtemps oubliées, et de revivre leur gloire. En effet, cette civilisation est appréciée pour beaucoup de choses en plus de ses riches valeurs religieuses.
