A utilização das figuras geométricas planas junto a crianças com síndrome de Down na APAE/Aracaju nos leva a refletir metodologias para melhor ensiná-las. Esta pesquisa tem como objetivos investigar formas de metodologias específicas para uma maior assimilação das figuras geométricas planas por alunos com síndrome de Down. Propõe verificar com professores da APAE/Aracaju as dificuldades apresentadas pelos educandos a respeito das figuras geométricas planas, observar e analisar a capacidade profissional, juntamente com a formação para o desempenho das figuras geométricas planas e propor um método mais eficaz relacionando a capacidade de compreensão desses indivíduos. Este projeto conta ainda com hipóteses, tais como: existe uma dificuldade no aprendizado, estimulando a busca de um meio que facilite o processo de aprendizagem das figuras geométricas planas, além do mais há uma ausência de capacitação profissional unida à má remuneração dos profissionais da área, provocando um ensino deficiente e, existe um preconceito com a deficiência por parte dos portadores, que dificulta o relacionamento educador x educando e o ensino/aprendizagem.
