Cet ouvrage rend compte le vécu de la stigmatisation par les femmes infectées par le VIH/SIDA à Abidjan en Côte d’Ivoire. En effet, depuis le début de l’épidémie du sida, la stigmatisation et la discrimination ont alimenté la transmission du VIH et ont des répercussions négatives sur la vie sociale. Elles se manifestent dans tous les pays et ont pris des proportions inquiétantes en Côte d’Ivoire. Cette étude a pour but de dégager les éléments essentiels qui mettent en exergue la stigmatisation des femmes infectées par le VIH/SIDA. Cela à partir de la présentation des femmes victimes de la stigmatisation et l’effet de ce phénomène sur elles. Cette étude qualitative montre que la stigmatisation des femmes infectées par le VIH/SIDA est due à certaines représentations de la maladie et est accentuée chez les plus démunies. En définitive, nous pouvons affirmer que la stigmatisation des infectées par le VIH/SIDA est une réalité. Ainsi pour l’atténuer, des actions ont été menées mais cela n’a pas suffit. C’est pour cette raison que nous avons fait des propositions de mesure pour réduire considérablement le phénomène.
