Este libro fue concebido en el semestre final de la maestría de Lingüística y Comunicación. Alguno de nuestros docentes soltó sin mucho detalle ni mayor entusiasmo el término polifonía que, de inmediato, atrajo mi atención. También aludió al autor de este concepto, Mijhail Bajtin, un filólogo ruso de vida azarosa que gestó sus brillantes teorías sorteando el férreo control que sobre las ideas originales e innovadoras ejerció la siniestra dictadura estalinista. Su vida era novelesca porque estaba auroleada de misterio, incluso se había puesto en tela de juicio su autoría sobre la polifonía y sus principales libros. Se le acusaba de plagio, de haberse apropiado de la producción intelectual de sus cofrades del círculo lingüístico de … Se trata de una controversia irresoluble a estas alturas y que no enerva la importancia y trascendencia de este intelectual que elucubró sus principales ideas luchando contra las adversidades físicas personales y un medio oscurantista y represivo, quizá el peor después de la inquisición en la edad media. Murió sin gozar del prestigio y la gloria que debió cosechar por sus rutilantes ideas.
