Description

Studies on fractal boundary microstrip antennas are carried out for circularly polarized (CP) radiation. The boundaries of the regular Euclidean shaped patch structures are replaced by fractal curves such as Half-circled, Flared-U, Koch, Minkowski and Poly type to design compact microstrip patch antennas for wireless applications. The proposed antennas are designed using HFSS Electromagnetic simulator and later simulation results are verified experimentally. A new class of single band asymmetrical fractal boundary microstrip antennas with Half-circled, Flared-U type and Poly fractal curves are designed for CP operation. The 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth achieved is 2%. The single band antennas designed in this book operates in the ISM band (2.45 GHz).
