Dans le cadre de l''activité de pilotage, les contraintes cognitives liées au fonctionnement cérébral demeurent encore peu considérées. Pourtant, lorsqu''elles sont comprises, l''erreur humaine devient un symptôme des carences du système. Une approche originale et innovante pour traiter l''erreur humaine en aéronautique est d''utiliser les outils et les concepts des neurosciences intégratives et de la neuropsychologie. Les travaux de ces disciplines suscitent depuis peu l''intérêt des facteurs humains et ont donné récemment naissance à un nouveau courant aux Etats-Unis: la neuroergonomie. C''est dans cette démarche que nous avons tenté de mieux comprendre l''influence du stress, de la pression financière ou encore du vieillissement sur la prise de décision et la performance de pilotage. Ce manuscrit montre comment des outils tels que les batteries de tests neuropsychologiques, l''oculométrie ou encore l''imagerie par résonnance magnétique aident à mieux comprendre les erreurs de certains pilotes, qui confrontés à des situations à forte pression, montrent parfois un comportement proche de celui de patients cérébrolésés (trouble attentionnel, rigidité mentale etc.).
