La thèse porte sur une étude théorique et expérimentale de l’atténuation des ultrasons dans les milieux légèrement hétérogènes. L’étude théorique est essentiellement consacrée aux modèles théoriques de la diffusion des ultrasons dans des milieux faiblement hétérogènes et au calcul de l’atténuation qui en découle. Une relation théorique entre l'atténuation et la fréquence est établit. L’atténuation dans les polycristaux est due principalement à la diffusion des ondes causée par les variations des propriétés locales du milieu. Pour mettre ce phénomène en évidence, différentes théories ont été développées telles que la théorie des perturbations, la diffusion simple, approximation de Born. Les résultats des calculs seront toutefois limités à la région de Rayleigh. L’étude expérimentale, porte sur la mesure de l’atténuation dans des échantillons d’acier. Plusieurs méthodes ont été utilisées pour la mesure des vitesses de propagation et de l’atténuation. Les résultats obtenus ont permis de mettre en évidence la dépendance de l’atténuation en fonction de la fréquence.
