En réponse aux besoins de la patrimonialisation des ressources archéologiques et grâce au développement de l?informatique, l?utilisation des systèmes d?information géographique (SIG) pour leur exploitation devient essentielle. Dans ce cadre, il s?avère nécessaire de prendre en considération leurs aspects temporel et spatial ainsi que leurs imperfections. Par une approche interdisciplinaire liant informatique et géographie, cet ouvrage élabore une démarche globale (représentation et traitement) pour l?utilisation de données spatiotemporelles imparfaites dans un SIG. La modélisation des données archéologiques se base sur une taxonomie de l?imperfection et de sa représentation. Une fois les données modélisées, cet ouvrage propose des outils d?analyse. La spécificité de leur caractère temporel et la lacune inhérente à l?information archéologique impliquent une gestion souple de l?information par une graduation des résultats obtenus (indice d?antériorité, gestion d?hypothèse de formes). Aussi, des outils originaux d?exploration et de visualisation de données archéologiques sont exposés afin de mieux appréhender les données disponibles.
