Johann Krainz, der Autor dieses Werks wurde im September 1847 in der Untersteiermark geboren und verstarb im April 1907 in Graz. Er war ein Sagenforscher, Lehrer, Erzähler und Schriftsteller. Der Verlag der Wissenschaften verlegt historische Literatur bekannter und unbekannter wissenschaftlicher Autoren. Dem interessierten Leser werden so teilweise längst nicht mehr verlegte Werke wieder zugängig gemacht. Das vorliegende Buch ist ein unveränderter Nachdruck der historischen Originalausgabe von 1880.
