Description
After the 1st Edition of the interdisciplinary work "Vascular Medicine: Therapy and Practice" has experienced an extremely positive response both from the German-speaking and English-speaking readership, the 2nd edition. The progress, especially in the field of endovascular therapy, has been immense in recent years. With the 2nd Edition of the book are pursued two essential objectives: firstly, an update and substantive improvement of the already existing chapters; the latter is essentially that each main chapter has been preceded by an introductory anatomical chapter. Furthermore, although the focus of the work continues to be on therapy, a detailed duplex sonography subchapter has been added for each vascular region. This from the point of view that duplex sonography represents the basic imaging diagnostics in vascular medicine, which is increasingly carried out by all specialties of vascular medicine. This forces the standardisation of the method in its everyday use. Second goal of the new edition is a substantial content extension of the book by sub-or main chapters, which for different reasons no entrance to the 1st edition. This is essentially the supplement to the main chapter "Diseases of the lymphatic vascular system", but for current occasion also to subchapters such as "Treatment of acute stroke" or "Renal sympathectomy", both therapy fields that have only gained a certain importance in recent years and in the future great progress in interventional Thertherapy of the corresponding patipictures promise. An important addition is also the subchapter of the treatment of renal artery stenosis: "Operative treatment of renal artery stenosis". With the 2nd Edition are again set standards by proven experts for the entire spectrum of vascular medicine. The reader is guided and taught in a didactic optimised way. The overall work is completely redesigned.
