Neben dem Versuch, auf diese Fragen Antworten zu finden, bietet dieses Buch einen Einblick in Schicksale von Menschen, die den Tod als endgültige Lösung ihrer Probleme wählten. Als nicht zu unterschätzendes Anliegen geht es dem Autor darum, durch eine möglichst genaue Kenntnis der Ursachen künftige Suizide zu vermeiden: «Nachsorge ist Vorsorge.»
