Este libro presenta una lectura de los textos de la venezolana Ángela Zago, Aquí no ha pasado nada (1972), Existe la vida (1989) y Sobreviví a mi madre (1997), para abordar un problema genérico: el del testimonio y la autobiografía. Los tres presentan varias características semejantes en común que permiten pensarlos como testimonios no canónicos, como testimonios letrados. De allí, el hecho de que en ellos la tesitura testimonial apunte a la apertura hacia el espacio biográfico, hacia la autoficción, y ello determine el que los veamos con otros ojos. En este sentido, esta lectura estará orientada a analizar cómo el proyecto de escritura híbrida de Zago, a través de la usurpación del género testimonial y la elección del relato autoficcional ―que permite el ingreso de varias matrices discursivas dentro del mismo―, se produce en la red de un discurso emergente ―signado por lo autorreferencial― que postula su fidelidad remitiendo a la experiencia tangible "real" de lo vivido por el sujeto enunciador, con la intención de agenciar un espacio que inserte a este nuevo sujeto letrado en una economía de deudas e intercambios en un orden simbólico, en el campo cultural venezolano.
