Se estudia el comercio minorista en México, donde durante el último cuarto de siglo se ha dado una recomposición de los agentes económicos. El comercio tradicional se resiste a desaparecer. El moderno tiende a ser desplazado por la competitividad de empresas venidas de otras partes del país y del extranjero. En este volumen se analizan los impactos que ha enfrentado el comercio minorista en México, a partir de su encuentro con la globalización económica, tanto en la estructura como en el funcionamiento de sus componentes. Se enfatiza el estudio desde principios de la década de los ochenta del siglo pasado, hasta los primeros años del actual, lapso en el cual los cambios en el sector moderno se han acelerado, mientras que el tradicional, continúa teniendo una gran relevancia en la realización de ventas, empleo generado e ingresos de subsistencia. El análisis del libro se sustenta en hechos históricos, datos estadísticos, trabajo de campo y elementos teóricos conceptuales provenientes de los clásicos de la economía y los autores más relevantes de la globalización económica. Está dirigido a estudiantes y profesionistas en economía y negocios e interesados en la temática.
