El vaivén entre el referido y su imagen es lo que mantiene cierta coherencia entre la realidad y su representación. Un evento, un acontecimiento...etc., son realidades provistas de dos coordenadas esenciales para su inteligibilidad: el espacio y el tiempo. Como es sabido, una acción es inconcebible sin la presencia de, al menos, una de dichas coordenadas. Por ello, se concibe la historia como un cúmulo de acciones y eventos espacio-temporales para cuya explicación, comprensión y, a veces, justificación, se acude a otros dos elementos muy a menudo antagónicos: la realidad y el texto. Ahora bien, la realidad está presente si se estudia en su momento mientras que el texto es muy a menudo pretérito a sus circunstancias. La realidad, además, es fluyente mientras que el texto se encuentra siempre estancado. A este respecto, el factor tiempo es esencial ya que la realidad es dilatación del evento mientras que el texto es su crispación. A este nivel, una pregunta se hace imperante ¿Cómo presentan los medios de comunicación españoles un determinado acontecimiento especialmente si está relacionado con el mundo árabe? Éste es el objetivo de la presente investigación.
