Este libro no pretende abarcar todos los aspectos de la protección de sistemas eléctricos de potencia, por lo que se consideran los tópicos más importantes, como son los principios de operación de los relevadores, la protección de líneas de transmisión y la protección de equipos, como son los generadores, transformadores y barras. El libro incluye un capítulo que describe brevemente los fundamentos de la protección digital. De acuerdo al tratamiento de cada uno de los temas, este libro puede considerarse de un nivel medio de complejidad, que puede ser utilizado en cursos de licenciatura y postgrado.
