Description

This book is a spinoff from the author’s Ph.D. thesis adapted for publication. It manifests the influence of African Nationalism in South Africa from a creative arts perspective. It advances the debate that Africans are the first citizens to inhabit South Africa. The monograph examines creative liberation arts from socio-cultural and socio-political contexts. It looks into the theoretical analysis and historical perspective of creative liberation arts. The book is intended for the high school and university students. It is also targeted for scholars and researchers in creative arts to continue with the investigation on liberation arts. The book will serve as a reference for the activists, ordinary readers, cultural enthusiasts, creative artists, historians and archivists of creative arts. The repertoire of liberation arts provided in the book presents an opportunity for another investigation. Sonwabile Mancotywa argues that freedom songs are ‘simply sacred at rituals’ (Mancotywa, NHC Web.). About the Author Luvuyo Dontsa is a political and creative artist who studied music degrees in three continents: Africa, America and Europe. He wrote two book chapters, published in refereed journals, wrote poems, composed S.A. lay-back Jazz music, conducted school, university and community choirs.
