Description

African Women's Quest for Self-Realization is a literary study of the Nigerian woman writer Buchi Emecheta's novels: The Joys of Motherhood and The Slave Girl. It offers a critical reading of Emecheta's female charatcers and their depiction in an attempt to provide satisfactory answers to the hot debates concerning the feminist ideology of her writings. Our book is a study of the representation of the Nigerian woman’s identity as female, black, colonized, and African in order to explain how race and gender were woven together as determinant factors that affected the female experience under colonialism.
