Description

Mutagenic treatment plays an important role in improving crop-plants in relation to their economic use for mankind. In this context, mutation breeding employs the use of chemical mutagens: Colchicine (Col), Ethyl Methane Sulphonate (EMS) and Maleic Hydrazide (MH) and their actions were visualized in detailed manner by estimating various parameters in this book. It incorporates various important informations and works on mutation breeding with recent ones in Dianthus species, a world-wide popular floricultural crop. It deals with the morphology, taxonomy, ecological factors, biostatistical study of various quantitative traits, soil parameter analysis, chromosomal study, biochemical profiling, scanning electron microscopy for foliar stomata, etc. This book is divided into 10 main chapters like Introduction, Aims and Objectives, Locational selection of research area, Review of literature, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Graphical representation, Conclusion, Photographs and References. These are also subdivided into some subheadings according to research work plan. Overall language is so simple and applied methodologies are clearly illustrated. About the Author Rajib Roychowdhury doing his research as JRF in UGC-funded major research project, Centre for Biotechnology, Visva-Bharati, India. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Botany. He completed a course on “Mushroom Culture Techniques and Practice”. His various research papers published in reputed national journals, symposium and conferences.
