Description

Ce travail de recherche présente une modélisation du comportement mécanique des géomatériaux par une approche multi-échelle combinant la méthode des éléments finis (FEM) et la méthode des éléments discrets (DEM). Le principe de cette approche peut se résumer en disant que la modélisation d’un problème aux limites concernant un domaine constitué d’un matériau de type frottant-cohésif est abordée par la FEM à l’échelle macroscopique, alors qu’à l’échelle microscopique, la DEM est utilisée pour modéliser l’assemblage granulaire. Afin de faire un pont entre l’échelle micro- et macroscopique, un Volume Élémentaire Représentative (VER) est considéré dans lequel la contrainte résultant d’une déformation imposée est obtenue d’un calcul numérique de type DEM. De cette manière, la loi numérique constitutive repose sur la modélisation de la microstructure, et par conséquent prend en compte la nature des géomatériaux. La loi numérique est d'abord construite et puis implémentée dans un code de calcul par éléments finis, ce qui donne un outil numérique multi-échelle que nous testons alors sur la simulation d’essais de laboratoire, ainsi que des modèles de problèmes de terrain.
