Diplomarbeit, die am 12.12.2005 erfolgreich an einer Fachhochschule in Deutschland im Fachbereich Landschaftsarchitektur und Umweltplanung eingereicht wurde. Problemstellung: In den vergangenen Jahren wurden verstärkt repräsentative, innerstädtische Freiräume (Fußgängerzonen, Plätze, Einkaufspassagen) mit chinesischen Natursteinplattenbelägen ausgestattet. Der günstige Preis des fernöstlichen Naturwerksteins ermöglicht Planern und Bauherren eine Fülle neuer Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten: Großformatige und den Belastungssituationen entsprechend dicke Platten aus massivem Naturstein werden zunehmend großflächig als Straßenbelag eingesetzt. In der Vergangenheit kam es jedoch zu teilweise erheblichen Unzulänglichkeiten bei Baumaßnahmen mit diesem Material, ein Umstand, der dem chinesischen Naturwerkstein ein nachhaltiges Negativimage beschert hat. Durch die im Rahmen dieser Diplomarbeit realisierte Dokumentation ausgewählter, chinesischer Natursteinplattenbeläge werden die mit diesem Material, in Abhängigkeit von Bauweise und Nutzungsansprüchen, einhergehenden Eigenschaften und Probleme analysiert und bewertet. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, unter Berücksichtigung der gewonnenen Analyseergebnisse Empfehlungen und Handlungsanweisungen für künftige Projekte zu entwickeln, um Natursteinplattenflächen in Zukunft schadensfrei planen, bauen und unterhalten zu können. "Granit aus China lässt Tiefbauer fast verzweifeln" (Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung, 06.04.2000). "Chinesischer Granit wird zum Stein des Anstoßes" (dpa- Meldung von Katia Rathsfeld, 21.08.2005). Schlagzeilen wie diese enthalten zwar meistens auch einen Funken Wahrheit, werden dem Kernproblem aber selten gerecht. In der Vergangenheit ist es bei einigen Bauprojekten zu Schwierigkeiten gekommen, die, meiner Meinung nach vorschnell und weitgehend zu Unrecht, dem chinesischen Naturwerkstein angelastet wurden. Vielmehr belegen unzählige positive Beispiele, die leider oftmals kein mediales Echo erfahren, dass chinesisc. . .
