Das Medienformat Soap ist formal in vielfältiger Weise medienwissenschaftlich aufgearbeitet. So wird auf seine Nähe zum „Bürgerlichen Trauerspiel“ abgehoben, seine mediale Beziehungsinszenierung und die hohe Dialoglastigkeit betont und auf Rezipientenebene die mediale Rythmisierung des Alltags durch Soaps konstatiert. Im vorliegenden Band wird auf der Basis aktueller Ergebnisse der Jugendforschung, der ethischen Theoriebildung und Konzepten der Medienkompetenzvermittelnder Deutschdidaktik das Rezeptionsverhalten Jugendlicher in Bezug auf Daily Soaps und die daran anschließende konvergenten Metakommunikation untersucht. Im inhaltsanalytischen Zugriff wird deutlich, dass die Inhalte der Soap “wert-verhandelnd“ (Mikos) sind. Zudem zeigt sich, dass auch bei wertthematisierenden Medienangeboten Jugendliche nicht rein rezeptiv reagieren, sondern sich im Rahmen einer konvergenten Medienaneignung mit diesen Wertangeboten auseinandersetzen. Diese Erkenntnisse werden abschließend in einem praktischen Modell zusammengeführt, um zu zeigen, wie das Präferenzmediums Soap auch in einem wertorientierten Unterricht didaktisch sinnvoll eingesetzt werden kann.
