Das Objekt im Museum ist aus seinem Kontext herausgerissen und ermöglicht dem Betrachter so eine Auseinandersetzung mit dem Fremden in sich selbst und in seinem Gegenüber. Das Objekt rüttelt auf, lädt ein zur Reflexion und fordert das Hinterfragt werden heraus. Die Südseesammlung im Missionsmuseum Liefering ist ein Schatz aus klösterlichen Kellern. Die Objekte bestechen in ihrer Schönheit und werfen gleichzeitig Fragen auf, weil sie ohne Informationen schwer zu verstehen sind. Dies impliziert die Wichtigkeit der universitären Forschung in der musealen Ethnologie.
