Im Mai 2004 werden zehn osteuropäische Staaten der Europäischen Union beitreten. Diese EU-Osterweiterung wird auch Auswirkungen auf die Kapitalmärkte der Beitrittsstaaten haben. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit war die Analyse der lokalen Börseplätze mit speziellem Augenmerk auf deren Börsensysteme. Ein Vergleich deren Funktionalitäten in Theorie und Praxis wurde durchgeführt und Verbesserungspotentiale aufgezeigt. Die relevanten Daten wurden den Internetseiten der osteuropäischen Börsen sowie spezifischer Fachliteratur über Kapitalmarkt, Börse und Europäische Union entnommen. Die Studie ergab, dass die Börsensysteme den lokalen Anforderungen der Börseplätze entsprechen, jedoch in Hinblick auf den EU-Beitritt Verbesserungen möglich und wünschenswert sind. Vor allem die Kostenseite könnte durch den Umstieg auf andere Systeme wie beispielsweise Xetra erheblich reduziert werden.
