The reconstruction of a gigantic cover-up action. Behind the camouflage name "Aktion 1005" is one of the most egregious and secret processes of the "Third Reich": In 1942, the top leadership issued to the "Reich Security Main Office" the order to make all mass graves in German-occupied Europe unrecognisable. The task was to find the murder sites, dig up the corpses, burn and camouflage the terrain. The actual work was imposed on Jews from the ghettos, prisoners of war, and prison inmates. Likewise, attempts were made to destroy all the captive writing documents and other information that would have documented the genocide of the European Jews, the murder of the Soviet prisoners of war, the annihilation of the Roma and the executions of Polish nationalists. As a result of years of research, Andrej Angrick has succeeded in reconstructing the scope of cover-up actions as much as possible as well as naming perpetrators and units involved. Last but not least, the author makes himself the goal of making the few surviving witnesses heard. Her statements and memoirs stood and face the displacement and cover-up efforts of the perpetrators and later Holocaust deniers.
