Allerdings ist die Preisgestaltung beim elektronischen Handel mit digitalen Inhalten aufgrund der Kostenstruktur bei ihrer Erstellung und aufgrund ihrer Eigenschaften hinsichtlich Erfahrung und Vertrauen eine sehr komplexe Aufgabe. Florian Stahl untersucht, welche Strategien der Preisgestaltung dazu beitragen, den elektronischen Handel mit digitalen kostenpflichtigen Inhalten zu optimieren und die Umsätze sowie die Anzahl der Verkaufstransaktionen der Anbieter zu maximieren. Besonderen Wert legt er dabei auf die Preis- und Produktdifferenzierung. Anhand einer empirisch quantitativen Analyse und aus theoretischer Perspektive erarbeitet der Autor entsprechende Handlungsempfehlungen und Design-Prinzipien. Er stützt sich dabei auf Daten realisierter Verkaufstransaktionen, nicht auf die Befragung von Konsumenten.
