The present volumes 11,1-11,3 of the handbook give a comprehensive overview of history, theory, and empirical research of reading and literature didactics and provide concrete suggestions for teaching. All levels of education from preschool to the training of German teachers are taken into account. Volume 11,1 addresses the historical and theoretical foundations including reading socialization research, reading psychology, and competence discussion. Volume 11.2 deals with the objectives in reading and literature lessons, as well as the teaching methods, the teaching and learning tools and the state of relevant empirical research; two exemplary research projects are presented in detail with regard to the methodological procedure. In volume 11.3, several contributions are discussed in detail on performance assessment and measurement; furthermore, here you will find eight exemplary teaching models on essential aspects of contemporary reading and literature teaching (reading techniques, analysis and interpretation of literary texts, handling of non-fiction texts, action and production-oriented versions scenic interpretation).
