Dazu führte nicht zuletzt, dass der Gesetzgeber zur Stärkung des Anlegerschutzes Vorschriften über Ad hoc-Mitteilungen erlassen hat und die Emittenten von Finanztiteln sich im Wettbewerb um den knappen Platz in der Wirtschaftsberichterstattung befinden. Besonders problematisch gestaltet sich der Medienzugang für junge Emittenten, die aufgrund mangelnder Bekanntheit Schwierigkeiten haben, ihre Informationen an potenzielle Anleger zu übermitteln. Amelie Beier-Middelschulte untersucht, wie die Wirtschaftspresse auf Presse- und Ad hoc-Mitteilungen von Unternehmen reagiert, ob die Wirtschaftsredaktionen die Informationen überhaupt verwerten und ob bzw. wie sie die Unternehmensinformationen verändern. Sie kommt zu dem Ergebnis, dass die Wirtschaftspresse durch ihre selektierende und korrigierende Tätigkeit übertriebene Selbstdarstellungen von Emittenten in sachliche Informationen umsetzen und den Kapitalmarkt somit vor falscher Preisbildung schützen kann.
