Die Untersuchung geht der Frage nach, wie die Vertreter der beiden großen Volksparteien und der Bundesregierung die fremdenfeindlichen Gewaltausschreitungen in der ersten Hälfte der neunziger Jahre in den Bundestagsdebatten der 12. Legislaturperiode thematisieren. Mit einer vergleichenden Diskursanalyse werden die Argumentationsmuster der Cdu/Csu und Spd sowie die institutionellen Mechanismen der parlamentarischen Themenbearbeitung rekonstruiert. Die Studie kommt zu dem Ergebnis, daß eine an parteipolitischen Interessen orientierte, selektive und unterkomplexe Thematisierung für die parlamentarische Bearbeitung des Rechtsextremismus charakteristisch ist.
