Psalm 139 handelt von der Nähe Gottes, die dynamisch und existentiell beschrieben wird: als bedrohlich und fremd, aber auch als beschützend und tröstlich. Eine solch existentielle und ambivalente Erfahrung der Nähe Gottes kennzeichnet auch die letzte Konfession Jeremias (Jer 20,7-18). So weisen Ps 139 und Jer 20,7-18 über die heute auch in Predigten verbreitete Vorstellung hinaus, die Nähe Gottes werde vorwiegend positiv und die Ferne negativ erfahren. Die Studie verbindet die Exegese von Jer 20,7-18 und Ps 139 mit der Rezeption der Texte in ausgewählten Predigten aus dem 20. Jahrhundert von Dietrich Bonhoeffer und Paul Tillich, um Möglichkeiten der religiösen Rede von der Nähe Gottes auszuloten. Das Gottesbild von Jer 20,7-18 und Ps 139 beinhaltet herausfordernde Aspekte, die von einem inneren Ringen mit Gott erzählen. Die Autorin ermutigt dazu, in der Verkündigungspraxis diese Ambivalenzen im Gottesbild anzusprechen. Sie plädiert für eine detaillierte Wahrnehmung der in den Texten verarbeiteten Erfahrung, dass die Nähe Gottes nicht einlinig positiv sondern zugleich herausfordernd und bedrängend sein kann.
