The Rhineland was the ideal environment in which the work of Gerhard Richter could unfold since his move from Dresden in 1961. Here he met like-minded people such as Sigmar Polke and Konrad Lueg, role models and charming figures such as Joseph Beuys and finally also a curious as busy collectors who had formed in the environment of the young galleries in Düsseldorf and Cologne. In the large-format magnificent volume, around 100 works from 40 private collections allow an insight into all groups of works of the artist from the early paintings based on photographic templates to the later abstract pictures with which Gerhard Richter completed his painterly oeuvre in 2017.
