Neither good nor evil by nature and magically attracted to wrong, his sight of the grotesque creature alone puts most people in panic. But those who fear them run the risk of going into flames. Where he appears, he spreads fear and terror. But behind the grotesque exterior is a scientist. Be it on the side of heroes such as Spider-Man, the Thing and Hulk or magicians such as Dr. Strange who rely on the help of Man-Things, or in association with higher entities such as Collector and baby-eating demon princes who seek to abuse the monster for their purposes. In the complex world of Ted Sallis, hardly anything is as it seems at first. Although largely free of emotions, logic and human mind, the monstrous creature is able to perceive the feelings of others through fine sensors. Above all, fears and injustice are the driving force of his actions. Combined with a series of morbid villains—such as the insane foolkiller, the mysterious D'Spayre, and Wundarr—the brew resembles a powder keg for crude, unpredictable developments. Known in German-speaking countries almost only die-hard Marvel connoisseurs, the adventures of Man-Thing overseas have long enjoyed cult status. Conceived by Stan Lee, Roy Thomas and Gerry Conway and brought to maturity by Steve Gerber, the figure has been staged over the years by numerous legends of ninth art - including greats Gray Morrow, Neal Adams, John Buscema, Howard Chaykin, Mike Ploog, Val Mayerik, John Byrne, Pat Broderick, Tom Sutton, Alfred. eed Hannigan, Sal Buscema and Jim Mooney. Some author liked the stories so much that he immortalized himself in it. But beware: reading the volume is not an easy food. Whoever the fate of the macabre creature and his world chase shivers over the back threatens danger. Because as its most important creator Steve Gerber used to warn: "Who knows fear, burns at the touch of Man-Things."
