The aim of this special issue is to help readers, students, engineers, researchers in academia and in industry, and decision makers in the fields of autonomous vehicles and transportation to identify some of the most active and promising research directions in the last three years to improve their navigation and control in cities and other challenging environments using new technologies and solutions.
