In view of the current contribution of rapeseed-mustard (20-25%) to the oilseed production in India about 16.4-20.5 mt rapeseed-mustard need to be produced from the present level of 8 mt to make country self sufficient in edible oil sector. Hence in order to bridge this vast gap, I trust and believe that this book of Rapeseed and mustard will be of immense help for researcher, development agencies and Extension personal engaged the upliftment of this crop. The authors, Dr. P.K. Tyagi and Dr. Ruderasen Singh who are actively engaged in teaching and research deserve commendation for their painful efforts to bringing out this important book. The efforts made by them for compilation of information on different aspects of rapeseed and mustard cultivation are commendable.
