Big data, being the hype of emerging technologies, has gained enormous attention from practitioners and academics in recent years. This has led many companies to invest on big data, in order to enhance the firm’s performance. However, majority of these investments have failed due to major challenges of this complex context. To address these challenges, this study proposes a systematic approach for big data adoption, with increased attention to various significant dimensions. To this end, the state-of-art technologies and techniques will be reviewed, identifying most prominent big data challenges, best practices and methods. For the purpose of effective data collection, available literatures, representative samples, and statistics will be studied, and an in-depth interview will be conducted. Next, a methodology will be proposed, characterizing step by step, how these techniques and technologies will be practiced, applied, and merged in order to tackle with problems identified.
